About Us
Nine rooms, one ridge, and the long quiet of mornings above the cloud.
Our Story
Mount End began as a family idea — a place to bring guests up to the part of Nuwara Eliya we love best: the cool, quiet ridge above Shanthipura, where the road runs out and the cloud rolls in.
We opened the doors recently, with nine rooms, an outdoor fireplace and a small restaurant for hill-country breakfasts. Everything was built around one rule: every room must face the mountain, and every room must have its own balcony to step out onto.
The house is run by the family that built it. You'll see the same faces at check-in, at breakfast, and when you ask for tea on the verandah. We like it that way.

The Place
Nuwara Eliya is the heart of Sri Lanka's tea country — a colonial-era hill town in a cool, green bowl ringed by mountains and estate. Shanthipura sits on the ridge above the town, six minutes' walk from the city viewpoint, and at 2,100 m it's one of the highest, most peaceful corners of the island.
"Built so each window opens onto cloud — and so each morning, you wake up to gold."
How We Host
Mount End is run by the family that built it. No layers, no scripts — just the people who know the house best.
Ceylon tea from estates we know, breakfast cooked here every morning, and tours led by neighbours who grew up walking these trails.
No piped music, no rush. Just a balcony, a teapot, a good bed, and a fire when the evening turns cold.
A Recent Guest
"We regret only that it was two nights — our stay here was phenomenal. The food was honestly the best meal we had during our entire trip to Sri Lanka. The comfort is world-class, the staff incredibly polite and helpful, and the view breathtaking."
